Why it is called Kwaggas View

If you want to escape from the hussle and bussle or normal life, whether as a weekend retreat or as part of an international holiday, you can do no better. Once on site you are in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by game. Fall asleep at night to the singing of the jackal; stroll around the veld by day in safety, walking with the giraffe, zebra and other game. Go game viewing in the morning; laze by the private pool in the afternoon then enjoy a sun downer and braai, watching the game graze and listening to the jackal call.

The word "Kwagga" is in the Afrikaans language the general designation for zebras. The spelling in other languages is usually "Quagga". The word originates from the Hottentottslaguage and has his origin in the call of the Quaggas ( kwa ha ha ..), which were, in former times, the most common zebras in the south of Africa. The Quagga a subspecies of the Plains Zebra (Equus Quagga), were hunted to extinction and the last one in captivity died in Amsterdam Zoo in 1883.

Game Reserves & Attractions

Located in malaria free North East Guateng Province, Kwaggas View provides easy access to Dinokeng Big 5 Game Reserve which is home to the quaint mining town of Cullinan with its diamond history, and vast savannahs that feature a number of game reserves. We are also close to where Wild at Heart was filmed (Glen Afric, aka Leopards Den)

Dinokeng has many game reserves and conservancies, which are being linked together and restocked with game to form a large Big Five game reserve. With four of the big 5 already roaming on the reserve (Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Elephant) Dinokeng is only awaiting Cape Buffalo which it hopes to add shortly.
